home is wherever I'm with you

I'm happy to say the week is over and soon it'll be June. Can you believe that? This weekend was pretty exciting, Abraham took me to the Aquarium of the Pacific (I have plenty of photos to share with you!) and we attended two carnivals. Needless to say I stuffed myself with funnel cake and lots of carnival food. As promised, here are the photos from my weekend in Santa Monica and Venice Beach.

Ferris Wheel

I love the mini amusement park at the Santa Monica Pier (Pacific Park). When I was reading "The Five People you meet in Heaven", I envisioned the pier in the book to look just like this. When I finished the book the author Mitch Albom gave thanks to the director of operations at Pacific Park. How neat is that!

Venice

The Venice Beach Boardwalk. Apart from the shops, there are booths that border the boardwalk. People sell handmade jewelry, art and crafts.

wall art

If it's one thing I love about Venice Beach, it's the art. Mostly all the streets are covered in fun, vibrant art like this.

telescope

Silly Abe looking through a telescope.

art wall 2

More street art. This one was one of my favorites.

VB Freakshow

The Venice Beach Freakshow. I had no idea it was still in operation.

coastline

The beautiful California coastline.

Pacific Park

Some of the rides at Pacific Park.

Pacific Park

We only went on the ferris wheel because I didn't want Abe to waste his money on rides. ($5 a ride? No, thank you.)

seagulls

The white buildings in the distance are Downtown Santa Monica. There's a huge shopping center with dozen of restaurants and stores just a few blocks away from the pier.

people at the pier

The pier is a great place to photograph people without them really noticing you.

waves

more of that golden light...

dolphin

I thought it was a little weird that there was a dolphin statue with not a dolphin in sight.

fishing

More of my people shots. I especially liked this one, I snapped away just as they caught a fish. (The photo below is of a restaurant on the pier.)

Mariasol

At night, Abe and I visited Downtown Santa Monica. I couldn't get past the cute little cafe I saw when we were walking by all the stores. This place has about a dozen Nutella containers next to their window. What a way to reel me in!

I borrowed this photo from their website since there was a No Cameras Sign on the wall. (Don't you hate it when that happens?) I had a Nutella and Banana Crepe paired with a Chai Hazelnut Latte. One word: AMAZING! The following week, we visited a crepe place in our own hometown. We are officially addicted to Nutella Crepes!

I hope all of you had a great weekend. Thank you very much to my new followers for taking interest in my blog. You guys are the best!
